Salep

...In Greek mythology, Orchis, the son of Satyr, raped a female servant at a Bacchus festival, was torn to pieces, and was transformed into an orchid. As a result, the herb salep made from the root of this plant was believed to have aphrodisiac properties, and was made into a drink by prostitutes, and was also used as a painkiller and food. In Nepal and Borneo, orchids are planted in sacred places and decorated in temples, and in Mexico they are an indispensable flower for offerings at weddings and funerals.
