A company with a large organization that supplies large quantities of goods. In modern times, large companies are not just relatively large in size; they cannot be discussed without thinking of them as oligopolies or corporate groups. In fact, large companies have strong financial and market power, and can influence consumption patterns and environmental conservation to a certain extent, exerting a strong influence on industrial society. The following points can be cited as management characteristics of such large companies: (1) There is a separation of ownership and management, and organizational management is dominant, with professional managers and technostructure playing important roles in this management.

大規模な組織をもち，財の大量供給を行う企業。現代においては，大企業はたんに相対的に規模が大きいというだけでなく，寡占企業や企業集団の形成というイメージを離れては論ずることはできない。実際，大企業は強い資金力と市場支配力をもち，消費のあり方や環境保全をある程度左右することができ，産業社会において強い影響力をもっている。こうした大企業の経営的特徴としては，つぎの諸点があげられる。(1)〈所有と経営の分離〉がなされ，組織的な運営が支配的であり，その運営においては専門的経営者とテクノストラクチャーtechnostructureが重要な役割を果たしている。
