Hidetaka Kawajiri

A military commander during the Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama periods. His father was Chikahige, and his mother was the daughter of Oda Nobutoshi. He was commonly known as Yohei. He was also called Shigeto and Chunkichi. He served Oda Nobunaga. He distinguished himself in the various battles to capture Mino and in the suppression of the Ikko Ikki uprising on Ise Nagashima, and in 1575 (Tensho 3), he was ordered to defend Iwamura Castle in Mino Province (Iwamura Town, Gifu Prefecture). In the same year, he served in Oda Nobutada's army during the capture of the Takeda clan in Kai, and was in charge of coordinating liaison with Nobunaga. After the war, he was awarded the entire province of Kai (excluding the Anayama clan's territory) and Suwa County in Shinano Province for his achievements, and moved to Kofu, but in June of the same year, in the midst of the chaos in his domain following the Honnoji Incident, he was killed by a former retainer of the Takeda clan. It is said that Tokugawa Ieyasu's plot to overthrow him was behind the scenes. There are two theories about the date of his death: the 15th and the 18th.

戦国・安土桃山時代の武将。父は親重,母は織田信敏の娘。通称与兵衛。重遠,鎮吉とも称す。織田信長に仕えた。美濃攻略の諸戦,伊勢長島の一向一揆鎮圧などに功を立て,天正3(1575)年美濃国岩村城(岐阜県岩村町)の守備を命じられた。同10年の甲斐武田氏攻略では織田信忠の軍に属し,信長との連絡調整に当たった。戦後この功績により,穴山氏の所領を除く甲斐一国および信濃国諏訪郡を与えられ甲府に移るが,同年6月,本能寺の変以後の領国の混乱のなか,武田氏の旧臣により殺された。背後には追い落としを狙う徳川家康の策謀があったともいわれる。なお死没の日については15日,18日の両説がある。
