Japanese: ソリハシシギ(反嘴鷸) - ソリハシシギ（英語表記）Terek sand‐piper

A bird of the family Scolopacidae in the order Charadriiformes. Total length is about 23 cm. A medium-sized snipe with a long, upward-curving beak compared to its body. It gets its name from the shape of its beak. It breeds in northern Eurasia from eastern Europe to northeastern Siberia, and in winter migrates to Africa, India, Southeast Asia, the Greater Sunda Islands, Australia, and other places. It comes to Japan as a migratory bird and can be seen throughout the country, but its numbers are not large. Its legs are short and orange-yellow. The upper side of its body is gray-brown, and in summer plumage there is a V-shaped black line on its back. The underside is white, and there are gray-brown vertical stripes on the neck and chest.

チドリ目シギ科の鳥。全長約23cm。体に比較して長くて上に反ったくちばしをもった中型のシギ。そのくちばしの形からこの名がある。東部ヨーロッパから北東シベリアに至るユーラシア大陸北部で繁殖し，冬はアフリカ，インド，東南アジア，大スンダ列島，オーストラリアなどに渡る。日本には旅鳥として渡来し，全国的に見られるが，数は多くない。脚は短くて橙黄色。体の上面は灰褐色で，夏羽では背にV字形の黒線がある。下面は白く，くびや胸側には灰褐色の縦斑がある。
