...Weather resistance is insufficient because it causes discoloration and chalking (the phenomenon in which the pigment separates from the coating after painting, and the pigment or particles stick to the fingertips when the painted surface is touched). Applications include two-component room temperature curing tar epoxy resin paints (tar derivatives) for bridges, steel pipes, ship exteriors, tanks inside ships, oil tanks, concrete surfaces, etc.; one-component room temperature and heated epoxy resin chemical resistant paints for the inside of chemical tanks, the inside and outside of various pipes, and machinery and equipment in chemical plants; epoxy resin can paints, which are often cross-linked with phenolic resin, for food cans, drums, tubes, and enamel for electric wires; and room temperature and amino resin heated epoxy resin primers for electrical equipment and automobiles.
