Social dumping

Social dumping
This refers to dumping that is based on low wages and poor working conditions. Japan's trade before World War II is said to be a typical example of this, and it became a global problem especially after the re-ban on gold exports in 1931. While world trade generally stagnated or contracted from 1932 to 1937-38 amid the impact of the Great Depression, Japan's trade alone made a great leap forward (mainland trade grew 2.8 times in value and 2.1 times in quantity from 1931 to 1937), and there was international criticism that this export boom was the result of social dumping.
