Rakugo. This is an old rakugo that has been performed since the Bunka era (1804-1818), and the original story is "Mizu no Tsuki" from "Ehon Banashi Yamashina" (Ehon Banashi Yamashina) around the Kansei era (1789-1801). Hachi-san and Kuma-san, who live in the same tenement house, are both very careless. One day, when Hachi visits the Kannon in Asakusa, he encounters a dead body and assumes it is a bear. Even though Hachi is told that the body has been lying there since the night before, he returns to the tenement house saying, "Anyway, I'll bring the person here and have them take the body," and takes the bear away. Kuma, who thinks something is strange, is naturally careless and follows Hachi. When Kuma comes across the body, he picks it up and looks at it, but wonders, "It is definitely me who is being held, but who am I holding it?" This punch line is one of the best known of all the lame punch lines, and is a masterpiece among many other clumsy plays, but it is extremely difficult to stage.

落語。文化(ぶんか)年間（1804～1818）から口演されてきた古い落語で、原話は寛政(かんせい)（1789～1801）ごろの『絵本噺山科(えほんばなしやましな)』のなかの「水の月」。同じ長屋に住む八つぁんと熊さんは、ともにたいへんそそっかしい。ある日、八が浅草の観音さまにお参りしたとき、行き倒れに出会い、てっきり熊だと思い込む。この人は昨夜から倒れているのだといわれても「とにかく、ここへ当人を連れてきて死骸(しがい)を引き取らせます」と長屋へ帰り、熊を連行する。なんだか変だと思った熊も、生来の粗忽者なのでその気になって八について行く。死骸に接した熊は、抱き上げて眺めていたが「抱かれているのは確かに俺(おれ)なんだが、抱いてる俺は一体誰(いってえだれ)だろう」。このサゲは間(ま)ぬけ落ちとよばれるもののなかでも卓越したもので、多数の粗忽もののなかの代表作であるが、演出は非常にむずかしい。
