…In the field of diplomacy, a meeting between Franco and Hitler was held in the town of Hendaye on the border with France, where they agreed on two points: first, Spain's neutral policy in World War II, and second, that Spain would maintain friendly relations with the Axis powers but would not cooperate in the war (although doubts have recently been cast over the second point).
