Vulgarized materialism

Japanese: 俗流唯物論 - ぞくりゅうゆいぶつろん（英語表記）vulgarized materialism

Also known as mechanistic materialism. A materialism that explains everything, including human consciousness and mental phenomena, through mechanical causal laws, and reduces everything to matter mechanically. It is said to be vulgar because it is even lower than 18th century materialism. It was popular among German biologists in the 19th century, including F. Büchner, K. Vogt, and J. Morescott. F. Engels sharply criticized it from the standpoint of dialectical materialism.
