〘Noun〙① In the Muromachi period, a group of 13 towns in Kyoto called "parent towns" that conveyed the orders of the magistrate to the branch towns. ② A group that was responsible for conveying laws , prohibitions, and notices . ※Essays, Sarugaku Denki (around 1736-41), Vol. 2 "Konparu's side presented Matsui Kizaemon and the two were appointed as the head notices." ③ In the Edo period, a temple whose job was to convey the orders of the Temples and Shrines Magistrate to subordinate temples and to relay petitions from subordinate temples to the Temples and Shrines Magistrate. Also, a high-ranking monk who liaised with the Temples and Shrines Magistrate and was in charge of overall management. *Essays, Takeno Zokudan (1757), 2 "The order was urgently given to Miroku-ji Temple, which is the head of the Shingon sect." 4. During the Edo period, it was a merchant and industrial association that conveyed the shogunate's orders to its members and relayed the members' requests and notifications to the shogunate. 5. In 1868 ( Meiji 1 ), a specific shrine family was ordered to convey government proclamations to shrines. 6. A domain whose mission was to convey proclamation documents from the Dajokan to various domains. On April 17, 1868 ( Keio 4 ), three of the 24 head domains were assigned to serve on a monthly basis.

〘名〙① 室町時代、京都で奉行の命令を枝町に伝える、親町と呼ばれた一三の町組。② 法度(はっと)・禁制、触書(ふれがき)を伝達する役目をおったもの。※随筆・猿楽伝記(1736‐41頃か)下「金春方より松井喜左衛門を差出し両人触頭と定む」③ 江戸時代、寺社奉行の命令を配下の寺院に伝達し、また配下の寺院の訴願を寺社奉行に取り次ぐ事を役職とした寺。また、寺社奉行との連絡をとり、統轄をつかさどった高位の僧侶。※随筆・武野俗談(1757)二「真言宗の触頭(フレガシラ)たる彌勒寺へ急度被仰渡けり」④ 江戸時代、商工業者の組合で、幕府の命令を組合員に伝え、組合員の願、届などを幕府に取り次いだもの。⑤ 明治元年(一八六八)に政府の布告を神社に伝達することを命じられた特定の社家。⑥ 太政官の布告書類を諸藩に伝達するのを任務とした藩。慶応四年(一八六八)四月一七日に触頭二四藩中三藩が月番で務めることになった。
