824－888 A court noble in the early Heian period.
Born in the first year of Tencho. The second son of Fujiwara Takafusa of the Northern House. His mother was the daughter of Fujiwara Manatsu. In 879, he became a councilor. In 879, he was appointed Chunagon and Jusanmi (Junior Third Rank). In 880, he also became Minister of Civil Affairs. He founded Yoshida Shrine in Kyoto and Sojiji Temple in Settsu. He is famous for the story of how a turtle rescued his beloved child (the monk Nyomu), and for his knife skills when cooking fish and poultry. He died on February 4, the fourth year of Ninna. He was 65 years old.

天長元年生まれ。北家藤原高房の次男。母は藤原真夏の娘。元慶(がんぎょう)3年(879)参議。仁和(にんな)2年中納言,従三位。3年民部卿をかねた。京都吉田神社,摂津総持寺を創建。たすけた亀に愛児(僧の如無(にょむ))がすくわれた説話,魚鳥料理の包丁術などで有名。仁和4年2月4日死去。65歳。
