Japanese: 大蔵種材 - おおくらのたねき

Year of birth: Year of birth and death unknown. A local official and warrior in the mid-Heian period. Son of Okura Tanemitsu. Grandson of Okura Haruzane, who pursued and killed Fujiwara no Sumitomo during the Johei-Tengyo Rebellion. When the Toi invaded Chikuzen Province (Fukuoka Prefecture) in 1019, Tanezai, who had previously been an official in Dazaifu (Dazaifu City), not only fought bravely to hold them off, but also, without waiting for the preparation of warships, quickly pursued them together with Taira Michiyuki, the Dazai no Shoni. At the time, he was over 70 years old, and due to this achievement he was appointed as the governor of Iki. Nicknamed General Iwama, he was said to be "the most skilled archer and horseman in the world."

平安中期の地方官人で武人。大蔵種光の子。承平・天慶の乱で藤原純友を追討した大蔵春実の孫。寛仁3(1019)年刀伊が筑前国(福岡県)に襲来したとき,以前大宰府(太宰府市)の官人であった種材は奮戦してこれをくいとめたばかりか,兵船の整備を待たずに逸早く大宰少弐の平致行と共に追撃している。ときに70歳を超す老齢であり,この功績により壱岐守に任じられた。岩間将軍の異名を持ち「天下無双の弓馬の達者」といわれた。
