...Kenuma is known as the home of pumice soil for gardening, famous as Kanuma soil, and Satsuki azalea.
[Kanuma-shuku]
A post town on the Mibu Street (Nikko Reiheishi Kaido) in Shimotsuke Province. It was the center of the Oshiwara district in the Middle Ages, and was built by the Mibu clan, who controlled the Kanuma clan, in 1532 (Tenbun 1), but fell in 1590 (Tensho 18).
