Isaac

Japanese: イザーク
Isaac
A composer and organist of the Flemish school. One of the great composers of the same era as Josquin des Prez. Born in Flanders, his birthplace is unknown. He served as an organist for the Medici family in Florence from around 1486. After the family was banished from Florence (1494), he worked as a court composer for Maximilian I in Vienna and Augsburg, and also traveled around the country, absorbing various musical styles. In 1512, when the Medici family was restored, he returned to Florence, where he died. His compositions ranged from masses, motets, and secular songs, and reflected the various musical styles of Flanders, Italy, and Germany. His representative work is the three-volume collection of works for four voices based on the mass proper (published posthumously between 1550 and 1555). Many of his works were published during his lifetime, and his music, rich in composition and melodic beauty, had a wide influence.
