…A neurological disease described by Hans G. Creutzfeldt (1885-1964) in 1920 and Alfons Jakob (1884-1931) in 1921. It affects both men and women from middle age onwards, and in the early stages, it shows personality changes and impaired memory and retention. Dementia then progresses, and the patient shows myoclonus (simultaneous, instantaneous muscle contractions of the limbs and trunk), pyramidal symptoms (motor paralysis, etc.), and extrapyramidal symptoms (abnormal muscle tone and involuntary movements, etc.). In the final stages, the patient becomes mutist and immobile, and dies within a few months to a year and a half. …
