Touna Skymen - Touna Skymen

A marine animal belonging to the family Poriferidae, class Vulgarispongiae. It is named after its shape, which resembles a Chinese eggplant. It is an ellipsoidal sponge, about 5 cm tall and 7 cm in diameter, with radial grooves on its surface. A cavity opens in the center of the upper part of the body. It has three main large spicules called rods, anterior tridents, and posterior tridents, as well as tiny spicules unique to this species called sigmaspilas. The Porifera sponge lives in the sandy mud of the lower intertidal zone, pierced by the lower bundle of spicules. This sponge is known to emerge every two or three years, depending on the location, and the location is called the Porifera field.

海綿動物門尋常海綿綱マルガタカイメン科に属する海産動物。外形がトウナス（唐茄子）に似るのでこの名がある。高さ約5センチメートル、直径約7センチメートルの楕円(だえん)体の海綿で、表面には放射状に溝がある。体の上部中央に中腔(ちゅうこう)が開く。骨片は桿状体(かんじょうたい)、前向三叉体(さんさたい)、後向三叉体とよばれる3種の主大骨片と、シグマスパイラとよばれるこの類特有の微小骨片をもつ。トウナスカイメンは、潮間帯下部の砂泥地に下部の骨片束で突き刺さって生息している。この海綿は、場所により2年置きとか3年置きに発生することが知られており、その場所はトウナス畑とよばれる。
