…The origin of this legend is as follows: Kakushin, who introduced the Fuka shakuhachi from China to Japan, taught the Kiyorei (spirit) bell to his disciple Yoritsuke (later the Zen master Kyotake, founder of Myoan-ji Temple in Kyoto). Yoritsuke played the bell while on a pilgrimage and retreated to the Kokuzodo Hall on Mount Asakuma in Ise, where he had a spiritual dream while napping at a wake.
