Kögler, Ignaz

Born: May 11, 1680, Landsberg, Bavaria
Died March 30, 1746. A German Jesuit priest in Beijing. His Chinese name was Dai Jinxian. He traveled to China in 1716 to work as a missionary. He was highly valued in China due to his knowledge of astronomy and mathematics. In 1725, he was appointed as the Chief Administrator of the Imperial Tianzhong, and in 1731, he became a member of the Personnel Department. In 1742, he compiled the "Lexixiao Kaochen, Part 2." During this time, he served as the Superior General of the Society of Jesus for Japan in China.
