A river that flows north through the center of Toyama Prefecture and empties into Toyama Bay. It is a first-class river. It is 120 km long and has a drainage area of 2,720 square km. The upper reaches split into the Takahara River and Miya River near the border with Gifu Prefecture. The Takahara River originates on the southern slope of Mt. Momizawa and flows south between Mt. Hotaka and Mt. Nuketo and Mt. Kasagatake, joining the Hirayu River and Sugoroku River to form terraces on both banks, and downstream in Hida City forms the Takahara Gorge. The Miya River originates on the northern slope of Mt. Kawakami, which divides the watershed with the Pacific Ocean, flows through the Takayama Basin and Furukawa Basin, joins the Odori River, then forms a gorge and flows further north. From the confluence of the two rivers in Inotani, Toyama City, downstream, terraces form on both banks. The river bypasses the mountainous area near Ioridani Pass to create a single isthmus, and from around Sasazu, Toyama City, new and old alluvial fans form. The Osawano alluvial fan is below the high terrace of the topmost alluvial fan on the right bank, and the river erodes this to form a relatively narrow alluvial fan downstream. The new alluvial fan of the Jinzu River is narrow because it was pushed toward the Kureha Hills by the vast alluvial fan of the Joganji River. Even in the dry season, the Jinzu River has a daily flow rate of about 1.3 million tons. Since 1954, power development has progressed, and the Jinzu River First, Second, and Third Dams have been constructed. As a result, the downstream of Inotani has become a continuous lake, called the Jinzu Gorge, and has been designated a prefectural park. In the entire basin, there are 17 dams and 58 power plants, with a total maximum output of approximately 840,000 kilowatts. Furthermore, cadmium, lead, and zinc flowing out from the Kamioka Mine of Mitsui Kinzoku upstream caused Itai-itai disease in the downstream area, particularly in the town of Fuchu (now part of Toyama City), which became a major social problem. 富山県の中央部を北流して富山湾に注ぐ川。一級河川。延長120キロメートル、流域面積2720平方キロメートル。上流は岐阜県境付近で高原川(たかはらがわ)と宮川に分かれる。高原川は樅沢(もみさわ)岳の南斜面に発し、穂高(ほたか)岳と抜戸(ぬけと)岳・笠(かさ)ヶ岳の間を南流、平湯(ひらゆ)川、双六(すごろく)川をあわせて両岸に段丘を形成し、飛騨(ひだ)市下流では高原峡をつくる。宮川は太平洋斜面との分水山地の川上(かおれ)岳の北斜面に発し、高山盆地、古川盆地を貫流して小鳥(おどり)川をあわせてから峡谷状となり、さらに北流する。両川の合流点の富山市猪谷(いのたに)から下流は両岸に段丘を形成する。庵谷(いおりだに)峠付近の山地を迂回(うかい)して片地峡をつくり、富山市笹津(ささづ)付近から新旧の扇状地を形成する。右岸の最上位の隆起扇状地の高い段丘の下に大沢野の隆起扇状地があり、これを侵食した川は下流側で比較的狭い扇状地を形成する。神通川の新扇状地が狭いのは、常願寺(じょうがんじ)川の広大な扇状地に呉羽(くれは)丘陵寄りに押しやられたためである。神通川は渇水期でも日量130万トン程度の流量がある。1954年(昭和29)以来電源開発が進み、神通川第一、第二、第三ダムが建設された。このため猪谷下流は連続する湖水となり、神通峡といわれ、県定公園に指定されている。全流域ではダム17、発電所58、最大出力合計は約84万キロワットに達する。 なお、上流の三井金属神岡鉱山から流出するカドミウム、鉛、亜鉛により、下流域とくに婦中(ふちゅう)町(現、富山市)ではイタイイタイ病が発生し、大きな社会問題となった。 [深井三郎] [参照項目] |神通川中流にある発電用ダム。神通川第二ダムともいわれる。高さ40mの重力式ダムで、1954年(昭和29)に運用を開始した。流域の峡谷部は神通峡とよばれ、新緑や紅葉の美しい景勝地として県定公園に指定されている。富山県富山市©公益社団法人富山県観光連盟"> 神二ダム 1853年(嘉永6)国立国会図書館所蔵"> 歌川広重『六十余州名所図会 越中 富山… 出典 小学館 日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)について 情報 | 凡例 |
