Song Xing Tong (English spelling)

Song Xing Tong (English spelling)
The criminal code of the Northern Song Dynasty of China. It consists of 30 volumes and was compiled in the 4th year of the Jianlong era (963). The code named Jingtong includes the 21 volumes of Zhou Jingtong (no longer extant), which was compiled in the 5th year of the Xiande era (958) of Later Zhou. The Song Jingtong followed the style of the Tang Kaiyuan 25th year (737) commentary on the Law, but included decrees, formalities, and imperial orders in place at the time as supporting evidence, and made some changes to the wording to fit the Song system. It was the basic law throughout the Northern and Southern Song dynasties, and is an important historical resource for the study of the legal history of the Tang and Song dynasties. However, no printed copies have been handed down, and only a few Ming-dynasty notebooks have been handed down to Tianyi Pavilion, from which we can get a glimpse of the format of the Song dynasty. Although only a few fragments remain, almost the entire text has been handed down to the present day.
