This mountain is located in Kotoura-cho, Tohaku-gun, in the western part of Tottori Prefecture. It is 616 meters above sea level. It is located at the northern end of the outer rim of the Daisen volcanic edifice, and is a mesa-shaped lava plateau made of pyroxene andesite. It is a strategic location, and its eastern edge is surrounded by 30-40 meter-high exposed rocks (Byobuiwa) and waterfalls. There are forests of Kuromoji and beech trees, and it is a special protected area of Daisen-Oki National Park. In 1333 (Genko 3/Shokei 2), Nawa Nagatoshi protected Emperor Godaigo, who was traveling from Oki, and defeated the army of 3,000 soldiers led by Oki Judge Sasaki Kiyotaka, and started the Kenmu Restoration. The remains of Chishakuji Temple at that time are now a national historic site, the remains of Funakamiyama Angu.
