Calceolaria

...An annual plant of the Scrophulariaceae family that is popular as a spring potted plant because of its strange, yet beautiful, pouch-shaped flowers. There are as many as 300 species of Calceolaria distributed in the Andean mountain ranges of Central and South America, and it is believed that the current Calceolaria was developed by crossbreeding C. corymbosa Ruiz et Pav. and C. crenatiflora Cav. with several other species.
