The former group includes Ludwig Philipp Thümmig (1697-1728), who contributed to spreading Wolff's philosophy to a wide range of German readers, Georg Bernhard Bilfinger (1693-1750), Baumgarten, who is considered the founder of German aesthetics, and his student Georg Friedrich Meier (1718-77), of whom Baumgarten especially complemented Wolff's system in the area of aesthetics that Wolff had hardly dealt with.
