A river that flows through northern Mongolia. It originates near Uriyastai, enters the Russian Republic of Buryatia, and empties into Lake Baikal. It is 2,120 km long from its source in the Uder River at its uppermost reaches. It has an abundant amount of water and many tributaries, and farming has been carried out in the basin by Russians and Chinese since ancient times.
