…768年(神護景雲2)左大臣藤原永手がその氏社として春日山の主峰御蓋（みかさ）山(三笠山)の山麓に創建したという。なお祭神の鹿島大神などは，古くに春日山にまつられたが，このおり御蓋山に4祭神をそろえ祭祀する社地を確立，平城京鎮護の官社として春日神社が成立したのである。やがて841年(承和8)春日山を神山とする勅命が発せられ，それ以降藤原氏氏長者（うじのちようじや）は同氏の繁栄を祈って春日祭祀の振興や春日社の拡充に着手した。…
