The only disturbance in balance when standing and walking is the lack of any impairment in individual limb movements or speech. This is caused by lesions of the labyrinth of the inner ear, particularly the semicircular canals and vestibule, and the structures of the nervous system that receive the sense of balance that derives from them, the vestibular nerve and vestibular nuclei.
