Dialogue - lines

Japanese: 台詞 - せりふ
Dialogue - lines
The words spoken by an actor in a play, one of the essential elements of theatre. There are various forms, such as dialogue, a conversation between two or more characters; monologue, a one-person address to the audience expressing one's own state of mind or feelings; and aside, an aside, a speech in front of the other characters, in which one expresses one's thoughts or other thoughts under the stage promise that the other actors cannot hear. The long monologue used in Hamlet is called a soliloquy. Asides are also a type of monologue, but they are short and used briefly, especially in comedies.
