Full of lines - Full of lines
A collection of famous lines by actors. A small booklet published in the form of a collection of famous lines from popular roles played by a particular actor in Kabuki and Kyogen. Publication began in Edo around the Enpo era (1673-81), and as part of early Kabuki scripts, it is a valuable resource for Kabuki research. The contents include a variety of lines, including name-writing, tsunari, and rokuho-kotoba, as well as monozukushi, monouri, haiku, puns, kakeawase, tales of revenge, lines of opinion, lines from "Shibaraku," and lines from the men in "Sukeroku."

役者の名せりふ集。歌舞伎狂言の中で,ある特定の役者が評判をとった役の名せりふを集めて版行した小冊子。江戸では,早く延宝(1673‐81)ごろにその刊行がはじまっており,初期の歌舞伎台本の一部としても,歌舞伎研究上,貴重な資料といえる。その内容は,名のり,つらね,六方詞をはじめ,もの尽し,物売,早口,地口,掛合,敵討物語,意見のせりふ,《暫》のせりふ,《助六》の男達(おとこだて)のせりふなど種々のものがある。
