Seferis, Geōrgios

Seferis, Geōrgios
Born: March 1, 1900 in Smyrna (now Izmir, Turkey)
Died: September 20, 1971. Greek poet from Athens. Real name Seferiadis. Studied in Athens and Paris, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1926 and served as a diplomat until he resigned as ambassador to the UK in 1962. He made his debut in the poetry world with the collection of poems Strofi (1931). He initially wrote fixed-form verse under the influence of French poetry, but moved to free verse around Mythistorima (35), and was later influenced by TS Eliot. His poetry explored the possibilities of Greek folk language to the fullest, and is rich in symbolism and contemplation, but sometimes difficult to understand. He preferred to take Greek mythology as his subject matter, and he sang of the modern world as an ancient world that still lives on in the poet himself. His representative works include Tetradio gymnasmaton (40), Imerologio katastromatos A, B, C (40, 44, 55), and Kichli (47). He also wrote many essays on Greek culture. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1963.

A,B,C』 Imerologio katastromatos A,B,C (40,44,55) ,『つぐみ』 Kichli (47) など。
