A geophysical survey method that estimates underground structures from the distribution of gravity by taking advantage of the fact that gravity values at the earth's surface (gravity anomalies) are affected by anomalies in underground structures. It is mainly used to explore anticlinal structures that may be potential oil reservoirs, and more recently has also been used to explore underground deposits such as ruins. In addition to measurements on land, gravity meters can be sunk to the seabed on continental shelves and moved around and measured by remote control from a ship. → Related topics Oil exploration | Geophysical exploration Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
