Sedoh Festival - Sedohsai

Japanese:
Sedoh Festival - Sedohsai
A festival for the renewal of the throne held by the ancient Egyptian pharaoh (king). The meaning of the word sed is unclear. It was held in the 30th year after the king's accession to the throne, and in principle it was repeated every three years thereafter, but this was not always strictly observed. The original purpose of the festival was to restore the king's vitality, and since the king's vitality and the fertility of nature were thought to be in a sympathetic relationship, it was required that after reigning for a certain period of time, the king be resurrected as a vital being through ritual murder. This custom is still seen today among tribes along the upper Nile.
