Impactor - Impactor

Japanese: インパクター - いんぱくたー
Impactor - Impactor

...An instrument that measures the amount of fine dust particles in the atmosphere. There are instruments that adiabatically expand moist air containing dust and count the number of mist particles that condense around the dust particles (Aitken nucleus counter), instruments that count by using light scattering by dust, instruments that draw in outside air through a narrow slit and capture the fine dust particles on a plate (such as a glass plate or a glass plate coated with a sticky substance) placed immediately afterwards and count the captured fine dust particles (called an impactor, and when multiple plates are placed one after the other, they are called cascade impactors). There are also instruments that capture fine dust particles using centrifugal force or static electricity, and instruments that measure the speed at which charged particles move when placed in an electric field and calculate the number of particles from that value.
