The capital of Hebei Province, China. Formerly a small village, it developed rapidly with the opening of the railway. Currently, it is the junction of three railway lines: Jingguang (Beijing - Guangzhou), Shijiazhuang - Taiyuan, and Shide (Shijiazhuang - Dezhou). It is one of the centers of China's cotton spinning industry, with its background in a large cotton-growing region, and is also home to thriving industries such as steel, machinery, and chemicals. It is home to Hebei Normal University, and the Jing coal mine is located in the western suburbs. Population: 4.45 million (2014).

中国，河北省の省都。もと小村であったが，鉄道の開通に伴い急激に発展した。現在京広（北京〜広州）・石太（石家荘〜太原）・石徳（石家荘〜徳州）の３鉄路の連絡点。大綿作地帯を背景とする中国綿紡工業の一中心地であるほか，製鉄・機械・化学などの工業が盛ん。河北師範大学があり，西郊には井【けい】(せいけい)炭鉱がある。445万人（2014）。
