〘Noun〙① In Noh, one person selects a key section from a Noh play and sings it along with it, playing only one of the three drums: the large drum , the small drum, or the large drum. The striking method becomes more complex, and the singing becomes more advanced. 〘名〙① 能楽で、謡曲中の要所一段を選んで一人で謡い、それに合わせて、大鼓(おおつづみ)・小鼓・太鼓のうち一種だけを打つこと。打ち方も複雑となり、謡い方も高度になる。一調謡。※金春座系伝書‐永正十八年元安伝書（1555頃）「只一調の心得をよく工夫に入てうたひ給はば」② 歌舞伎で、武将の出入りなどに使う小鼓のはやし。小鼓一丁(ちょう)で打つところから起こった名であるが、現在では三、四丁で打つこともある。③ (「調」は「遷」に同じく、移ることの意) 一度転調すること。※黄葉夕陽邨舎詩‐後編（1823）八・送鈴木曹長之東都「兢兢備_二顧問_一、喋喋説_二詩書_一、十年無_二一調_一、終身守_レ株」
