Law No. 122 of 1973. It was enacted in response to the so-called oil crisis at the end of 1973, and its purpose is to ensure an adequate supply of oil to Japan in the event of a major oil supply shortage. When measures to improve oil supply and demand are deemed necessary by a Cabinet decision, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry will require oil-related businesses to submit plans for oil production, import and sales in order to improve the balance of supply and demand. It also establishes a system for the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry to give direct instructions and control over business activities. 昭和 48年法律 122号。 1973年末のいわゆる石油危機に際して制定されたもので,日本への石油の大幅な供給不足が生じる場合に石油の適正な供給を確保することを目的としている。閣議の決定により石油需給に対する対策が必要と認められるときには,経済産業大臣は石油関係事業者に石油の生産,輸入,販売に関する諸計画を提出させて需給の適正化をはかるほか,さらには,経済産業大臣による事業活動に対する直接の指示,統制についての制度を設けている。
