Shizui Mountain

A prefecture-level city in the northern part of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China. It is located north of Yinchuan, on the left bank of the Yellow River. It governs two city districts and Pingluo County (as of 2016). Population 765,000 (2014). The city government is in Dawukou District. Pingluo County is located in the northern part of the Yinchuan Plain, on the Yellow River, and was originally just a military base for the north.

Shizuishan City was formerly called Shizuizi and was a small village at the northern end of the Yinchuan Plain. In 1958, the Baotou-Lanzhou Railway was opened, and the area developed into a key transportation route connecting Inner Mongolia with the northwestern region, and later a city was established. It is now an industrial center that utilizes the mineral resources in the northern part of the autonomous region.

中国、寧夏(ねいか)回族自治区北部の地級市。銀川(ぎんせん)の北、黄河(こうが)の左岸に位置する。2市轄区と平羅(へいら)県を管轄する（2016年時点）。人口76万5000（2014）。市政府は大武口(だいぶこう)区にある。なお平羅県は銀川平原の北部にあって、黄河の沿岸に位置し、もともとは北方に対する軍事的な拠点にすぎなかった。

　石嘴山市はかつては石嘴子と称され、銀川平原の北端にある小集落であった。1958年包蘭線（パオトウ―蘭州(らんしゅう)）が開通し、内モンゴルと西北地区をつなぐ交通路の要衝となるとともに発達し、のち市が設置された。現在は自治区北部の鉱物資源を利用する工業中心地となっている。
