Aggadah (English spelling)

Japanese: アガダ（英語表記）aggadah

A story, tale, or fable. A non-legal rabbinic text in the Talmud, or a non-legal commentary on the Bible. It includes moral reflections, sermons, excuses, and stories of Israel's past and future. It also includes the story of the Exodus from Egypt, recited on the night of Passover, and a commentary on the relevant passage of the Bible. It is also called a Haggadah with the definite article.

物語，説話，寓話の意。タルムードのなかで律法的なものを取扱わないラビ文献の部分，または律法的なものを含まない聖書注解。道徳的反省，説教，弁明，イスラエルの過去，未来の物語などを含む。また過越祭 (すぎこしのまつり) の夜に読上げられるエジプト脱出の物語と当該の聖書個所の注解を含む説話で，定冠詞をつけてハガダともいわれる。
