Also known as hookworms. A parasitic worm belonging to the nematode family, well-known in humans are the Zubinian hookworm and the American hookworm. The adult worms are about 1 cm long and come in both sexes. They suck blood from the small intestinal mucosa and sometimes cause anemia. Eggs are excreted in feces, and larvae enter the body through the skin or mouth.
