Duodenal worm (duodenal worm) - Duodenal worm
Also known as hookworms. A parasitic worm belonging to the nematode family, well-known in humans are the Zubinian hookworm and the American hookworm. The adult worms are about 1 cm long and come in both sexes. They suck blood from the small intestinal mucosa and sometimes cause anemia. Eggs are excreted in feces, and larvae enter the body through the skin or mouth. Anthelmintics include bromnaphthol and bephenium.

コウチュウ(鉤虫)とも。線虫類に属する寄生虫で,人にはズビニ鉤虫,アメリカ鉤虫などが知られる。成虫は約1cmで雌雄あり,小腸粘膜から吸血,時には貧血を起こさせる。卵はふん便とともに排出,幼虫は皮膚または口から侵入する。駆虫剤は,ブロムナフトール,ベフェニウム剤など。
