A machine that knots or combines threads or wires to make nets (fishing nets, various nets). Nets may or may not have knots, and the knots may be either honme or kaerumata. The types of net-making machines are shown in the table below. Honme weaving machines come in two types: manual warp-net type and powered weft-net type, but these are not used much these days. Kaerumata weaving machines are the most commonly used, and most are powered weft-net type. Warp nets knot horizontally zigzag threads vertically, creating two symmetrical rings, and when a new net thread is passed through them and the existing section is tightened, a row of honme knots is created. 糸あるいは針金を結び,あるいは組み合わせて網(漁網,各種ネット)を作る機械。網地には結節(結び目)をもつものともたないものとがあり,結節には本目(ほんめ)と蛙股(かえるまた)とがある。表に製網機の種類を示す。本目編網機には手動による経(たて)網式と動力による緯(よこ)網式とがあるが,現在あまり使われていない。蛙股編網機は最もよく使用されているもので,ほとんど動力による緯網式である。経網は横方向にジグザグに走る糸を縦方向に結び合わせるもので,対称的なリング二つを作り,これに新しい網糸を通して既成部を引きしめると1列の本目結節ができる。
