A political party that claimed the French throne from the Legitimist dynasty (House of Bourbon). The term Legitimist was used in contrast to the Orléanist faction, who came to power after the July Revolution, which overthrew the Legitimist Restoration. From then on, the Legitimist faction viewed the Orléanist faction as usurpers, and hostility between the two factions continued until the end of the 19th century. The Legitimist faction was based mainly on large landowners of aristocratic origin and the church. During the Second Republic, they briefly aligned themselves with the Orléanist faction, but their differences could not be overcome, and they allowed Louis Napoleon to carry out a coup d'état.

正統王朝(ブルボン家)によるフランスの王位を要求する政治党派。正統王党派という呼称そのものは，七月革命によって正統王朝の王政復古が打倒された後政権の座についたオルレアン王党派に対照してつけられたものである。これ以後正統王党派はオルレアン王党派を王位簒奪者とみなし，両派の敵対は19世紀末まで続くことになる。正統王党派はおもに貴族出身の大土地所有者と教会を基盤としていた。第二共和政下においてはオルレアン王党派とも一時的に共同歩調をとったが，両者の対立は克服されず，ルイ･ナポレオンによるクーデタを許した。
