Weaving - Seishoku

It refers to the production of cloth using yarn. Basically, it involves a process of moving the warp threads up and down depending on the desired weave, inserting and interlacing the weft threads between them to create a two-dimensional sheet-like cloth. This basic operation has remained unchanged since ancient times. In most cases, a shuttle is used to insert the weft thread, but this involves a lot of energy loss, generates noise, and does not allow for high speeds, so there is a gradual increase in the use of tools to insert the weft thread, and methods that use a jet of water or air to feed the weft thread, which are becoming more and more efficient.

糸を用いて布を製造することをいう．基本的には必要とする織物の組織に応じて，たて糸を上下し，その間によこ糸を挿入し，交錯させ，二次元シート状の布を構成する工程からなる．この基本操作は古代からかわっていない．よこ糸挿入にシャットル(杼：ひ)を大部分用いているが，エネルギー損失が多く，騒音を発生し，高速化ができないので，積極的に道具を用いてよこ糸を挿入するもの，水または空気のジェット(噴流)によりよこ糸を送り込むものなどがしだいに増加し，高能率化されつつある．
