Parrot-finch (blue-red bird)

Japanese: セイコウチョウ(青紅鳥) - セイコウチョウ（英語表記）parrot‐finch

A general term for birds of the genus Erythrura in the family Aceridae, order Passeriformes. Ten species are known, distributed from Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines through New Guinea to the South Pacific islands and Australia. They are beautiful birds with a metallic green main color, but some species, such as the Red-breasted Flycatcher E. cyaneovirens found in Fiji and Samoa, have a blue body. Many have red heads and tails. The Southern Flycatcher E. trichroa is about 13 cm long and distributed from Celebes through New Guinea to northwestern Australia and the Loyalty Islands.

スズメ目カエデチョウ科セイコウチョウ属Erythruraの鳥の総称。10種が知られていて，タイ，マレーシア，フィリピンからニューギニア島を経て南太平洋の島々やオーストラリアにまで分布する。金属緑色を主色とした美しい鳥であるが，フィジー･サモア諸島産のズアカセイコウチョウE.cyaneovirensのように体が青色を帯びたものもある。頭や尾の赤いものが多い。ナンヨウセイコウチョウE.trichroaは全長約13cm，セレベス島からニューギニア島を経てオーストラリア北西部およびローヤルティ諸島まで分布する。
