Japanese: 生活の質 - せいかつのしつ（英語表記）quality of life

Also called quality of life. It is a concept related to things like enrichment and purpose in life, or amenity (benefits and environments that give people comfort), and is opposed to the so-called gross national product (GNP) thinking. JK Galbraith said that "improving the quality of life should be the ultimate goal of economics," but this idea was also strongly advocated by anti-mainstream economists such as KG Myrdal and EJ Mitchan. It is not expressed in monetary terms, but is often concretely expressed as an indicator of welfare national income (NNW) or net national welfare.

クオリティ・オブ・ライフともいう。生活の潤いや生きがい，あるいはアメニティ amenity (人々に快適さを与える便益や環境) といったものにかかわる概念で，いわゆる国民総生産 GNP思考とは対立するもの。 J.K.ガルブレイスは「生活の質の改善こそ経済学の最高の目標となるべきである」としたが，こうした考え方は K.G.ミュルダールや E.J.ミシャンなどの反主流派経済学者によっても強く主張されていた。貨幣的に表示されるものではなく，福祉国民所得NNWあるいは純国民福祉の指標として具体的に表わされることが多い。
