A small genus of solanaceae plants native to Australia, including three species: D. myoporoides R.Br., D. leichhardtii FvMuell, and D. hopwoodii FvMuell. It is an evergreen shrub with many branches. It produces panicle-shaped inflorescences at the ends of the branches, and bears many small flowers. Its oblong, cortical leaves contain tropane alkaloids, and are used as raw materials for the manufacture of hyoscyamine and scopolamine, which have analgesic and antispasmodic properties.
