Duboisia (English spelling)

A small genus of solanaceae plants native to Australia, including three species: D. myoporoides R.Br., D. leichhardtii FvMuell, and D. hopwoodii FvMuell. It is an evergreen shrub with many branches. It produces panicle-shaped inflorescences at the ends of the branches, and bears many small flowers. Its oblong, cortical leaves contain tropane alkaloids, and are used as raw materials for the manufacture of hyoscyamine and scopolamine, which have analgesic and antispasmodic properties. オーストラリア原産の3種のナス科植物D.myoporoides R.Br.，D.leichhardtii F.v.MuellとD.hopwoodii F.v.Muellを含む小さな属で，常緑の枝を多数分枝する低木。枝端に円錐状の花序を生じ，多数のやや小さい花をつける。長楕円形で皮質の葉にトロパン系アルカロイドを含み，鎮痛･鎮痙作用のあるヒヨスチアミンhyoscyamine，スコポラミンscopolamine製造の原料となる。
