A duo of science fiction writers representing Russia (Soviet Union). The elder brother, Arkadii Natanovich Strugatskii (1925-1991), is a scholar of Japanese literature, and the younger brother, Boris Natanovich Strugatskii (1933-2012), is an astronomer. The brothers began publishing science fiction novels together in 1957. Their creative endeavors were aimed at "creating models to understand the modern world," and their sharp social stance was at odds with the Soviet regime. For this reason, works such as "It's Time to Climb the Snail" (1968) and "The Ugly Swan" (1972) were banned during the Soviet era, but were fully lifted after 1987.

ロシア（ソ連）を代表する二人組のSF作家。兄アルカージーArkadii Natanovich Strugatskii〔1925-1991〕は日本文学者，弟ボリスBoris Natanovich Strugatskii〔1933-2012〕は天文学者でもある。1957年から兄弟合作の形でSF小説を発表しはじめた。彼らの創作活動は〈現代を把握するためのモデルづくり〉であり，その鋭い社会的姿勢はソビエト体制とは相いれなかった。そのため《そろそろ登れ蝸牛》（1968年），《醜い白鳥》（1972年）などはソ連時代には発禁になっていたが，1987年以降は全面的に解禁された。
