Also known as the blue-and-white braconid wasp. An insect of the Hymenoptera, Braconidae family. A type of parasitic wasp, it is black and has a body length of about 3 mm. It is a powerful natural enemy of the larvae (green caterpillars) of cabbage white butterflies. It parasitizes the host's body, and just before the host pupates, it breaks through the skin to escape to the outside world and immediately makes a small, pale yellow cocoon. The host dies as a result. It is found in various places from Japan to Europe.

アオムシコマユバチとも。膜翅(まくし)目コマユバチ科の昆虫。寄生バチの１種で，体長3mm内外，黒色。モンシロチョウ類の幼虫（青虫）の有力な天敵。その体内に寄生し，寄主の蛹化(ようか)直前に，その皮膚を破って外界に脱出，直ちに淡黄色の小さな繭を作る。寄主はこのため死ぬ。分布は日本からヨーロッパに至る各地。
