Kindaichi

Japanese: 金田一 - きんだいち

A district in the northwest of Iwate Prefecture, in the northeast of Ninohe City. Former village name. In 1972, it was merged with Fukuoka Town to form Ninohe City. It was a pioneer of apple cultivation in Iwate Prefecture, and was introduced to the Shitazaki district in 1877, and developed into a major apple producing area. Kindaichi Onsen in the Yuda district was once a therapeutic hot spring resort for the feudal lords of Morioka Domain, and was known as "Samurai's Hot Spring." It is a popular stopover point on the way to Hachinohe City and Lake Towada.

岩手県北西部，二戸市北東部にある地区。旧村名。 1972年福岡町と合体して二戸市となる。岩手県におけるリンゴ栽培の先駆地で，1877年舌崎地区に導入され，リンゴの主産地に発展。湯田地区の金田一温泉は，昔は盛岡藩諸侯の湯治場で「侍の湯」と呼ばれた。八戸市や十和田湖への中継点として利用客が多い。
