English Chronicle - Igirisu Shoki

Japanese: 《英吉利小記》 - いぎりすしょうき
English Chronicle - Igirisu Shoki

...A geography book written by Wei Yuan in the late Qing Dynasty of China, which also introduces overseas conditions. During the First Opium War (1840), Wei Yuan wrote the "Little Record of England" based on the oral dictations of captured British soldiers to introduce the situation in Britain. In the summer of the following year, he began compiling the "Map of the Sea" at the request of Lin Zexu, who had been dismissed as the Imperial Commissioner and Governor-General of Guangdong and Guangxi. This is a compilation of descriptions of foreign countries from Chinese translations of Western geography books, such as "The Journal of the Four Islands" (a Chinese translation of H. Murray's "Encyclopaedia of Geography" (1834)) and "Macau Monthly Report" translated by Lin Zexu, as well as historical and geography books of the past, and includes maps of each region.
