Pegu Yoma (English spelling)

Japanese: ペグー[山脈]（英語表記）Pegu Yoma

A mountain range stretching 320 km from north to south in central-south Myanmar between the Irrawaddy River and the Shitaung River. Its elevation is around 500 m. Thingothaya Hill in Yangon, where the Shwedagon Pagoda is located, is an isolated hill at the southern end of the range. Tributaries flowing into the Pegu River and Shitaung River from the east of the range, while tributaries such as the Ping, Inn, and Nawin flow into the Irrawaddy River from the west. The southern part of the range receives a lot of rain and is covered with evergreen forests, while the northern part is deciduous.

ミャンマー中南部，イラワジ川とシッタウン川の間に横たわる南北320kmの山脈。標高は500m前後。シュウェダゴン･パゴダのあるヤンゴンのティンゴウタヤ丘は，この山脈の南端に孤立した丘陵である。山脈の東からはペグー川やシッタウン川に注ぐ支流が流れ出ており，西からはピン，イン，ナウィンなどの支流が流れ出てイラワジ川に注いでいる。雨量が多く山脈の南部は常緑樹林に覆われているが，北部は落葉樹林になっている。
