A town in Kato District, Hokkaido. It occupies the northern part of the Tokachi Plain, with the Otofuke River and Shihoro River flowing south. Dairy farming is thriving. The town produces potatoes, sugar beets, and wheat, and is one of the leading producers of potatoes in Japan. Agricultural product processing, such as starch manufacturing, is also carried out.
